WBCM provided Lockheed Martin with architectural and engineering design and construction services for renovations to 120,000 square feet of interior office space in the existing three-story Curie Court office building. The result received LEED Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council.
Demolition, space design, and permitting were phased to accommodate the tenants’ move-out and move-in logistics as established by Lockheed Martin to maintain operations during the renovation process. Renovations included demolition of existing offices, refurbishing office interior finishes, wall and door realignments, HVAC upgrades, lighting replacement and life safety modifications, and private office and conference room arrangements.
WBCM also completed renovations to: the cafeteria to improve food service use and increase seating capacity; the Men’s and Women’s toilet rooms to ensure ADA compliance and incorporate showers as part of Lockheed Martin’s LEED initiative; the data center to reconfigure hardware and improve cooling capacity; and the lobby area to provide improved security and an enhanced professional appearance.
WBCM provided extensive support of Lockheed’s LEED initiative, designing the project to receive LEED Certification under the LEED CI 2.0 (Commercial Interiors) program. The facility earned credits in Sustainable Sites (site density, community connectivity, public transportation, and bicycle storage), Water Efficiency (efficient fixtures), Energy and Atmosphere (efficient lighting and HVAC, green power), Materials and Resources (building reuse, resource reuse, recycled content, use of certified wood), Indoor Environmental Quality (indoor air quality monitoring, outdoor air delivery monitoring, and use of low-emitting materials), and Innovative Design (green education and green cleaning programs).
