Picnic Area Renovations, Oriole Park at Camden Yard
WBCM provided civil engineering and landscape architecture design services to the Maryland Stadium Authority for picnic area renovations at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The existing multi-level picnic area sits above the bullpen in left-center field. WBCM developed conceptual design studies and preliminary cost estimates, prepared construction documents, and provided permitting and construction phase services.

WBCM designed the renovation to enhance ADA accessibility between levels and provide new hardscape and landscape improvements to enhance the fan experience. The improvements included concrete pavers, raised brick planter beds, tree grates, gates, site amenities and landscape plantings. The design used materials, patterns, and colors that were coordinated with and continue the design vocabulary present at Oriole Park. WBCM chose hardy plant materials that can survive in an urban setting and that were sized to have an immediate impact.

WBCM provided rapid response throughout the construction phase to ensure that the project’s short, defined construction time frame (winter 2008 to Opening Day 2009) was met.
