Fairfield Marine Terminal, Baltimore, MD

Mercedes Benz Vehicle Processing CenterWBCM provided architectural, civil and structural engineering design services as well as construction management services for a new 102,000 SF vehicle preparation center (VPC) building located at the Mercedes-Benz terminal at the Fairfield Marine Terminal in Baltimore, MD.

WBCM performed a comprehensive field investigation of the existing facility to document the building structure, finishes, and mechanical/electrical utilities. Field observations were compared to record drawings to assemble a current facility base plan. Based on the conditional survey, the facility was assessed and recommendations for improvements and relocations were made and incorporated into the expansion design. The project included new shop offices and upgrades to existing offices, a new break room, relocation of vehicle lifts, upgraded paint booths, a new shop exhaust system, car wash upgrades, improvements to lighting, power, and environmental control systems, a new floor coating, and a server room expansion and installation of new IT systems.

In addition to the VPC, WBCM provided design and construction services for miscellaneous projects including new offices, a break room, a new guardhouse, fencing, and car wash building renovations. Careful coordination was crucial to avoid disruption of existing operations. WBCM provided assistance with the preparation of all required permits.
