Firm History

Whitney Bailey Cox & Magnani, LLC took flight on April 1, 1977, in the hands of Sandy Whitney, Howard Bailey, Paul Cox, and Richard Magnani with a card table in Whitney’s living room and a project with Bethlehem Steel. After quickly out-growing the rent-free space, the four partners moved into space on the sixth floor of the Federal Land Bank Building on St. Paul Street and never looked back.

WBCM added Architects to the team in the early 1980s. In 2002, WBCM Construction Services, LLC, a sister entity, was started, allowing WBCM to provide clients and partnering firms comprehensive construction management and facility construction services.

Today, WBCM is a full-service, multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, and construction firm with offices in Baltimore, Maryland; Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Fairfax, Virginia.

Today, WBCM boasts a roster of over 200 employees, almost half of whom are licensed professionals including engineers, architects, landscape architects, surveyors, and LEED professionals. The WBCM team has completed the design, engineering and construction of projects exceeding one billion dollars in construction value.

As we look to define our future, we are continually expanding our reach into new markets and broadening our scope of professional services. From dreams to accomplishments and back to dreams—or as we prefer to call them now, strategic goals.
