Winters Mill High School - Westminster, MD

WBCM provided civil design services for a new high school in Westminster, Maryland. The site included athletic fields for both baseball and softball, tennis courts, an athletic stadium which provided a running track and a multi-purpose field for football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and track. WBCM also provided the complete utility infrastructure for the site and modified the existing stormwater management pond.

WBCM was also responsible for the preparation of a feasibility study and alternative analysis of this site. The high school is approximately 166,130 s.f. and is located in Westminster Maryland on approximately 82 acres. One of the most critical items in evaluating this site was the ability to grade the site to accommodate amenities such as the building and parking while maintaining handicap accessibility. The site contains steep slopes to the west where an existing SWM pond is located, WBCM checked the volume of the existing pond to see if the new runoff volume will fit into the pond or if an alternative method would need to be explored for water quality. Traffic impacts were also explored as part of the feasibility study. Elements of site design included layout, grading, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, sidewalks, parking, and ball fields.
