
Izzo Promoted to Senior Vice President
We are pleased to announce that Mike Izzo, PE has been promoted to Senior Vice President. Mr. Izzo will assume leadership of the firm’s Maryland Transportation Division and continue to oversee WBCM’s Maryland Bridge Department. In this new role, he will be responsible for business development, strategic planning, operations, recruiting and staff development for a team of more than 50 employees. Executive Vice President, Joe O’Neil commented, “Mike possesses the skill set and leadership traits that make assuming this new role a natural progression in his career.”
Mr. Izzo has 15 years of experience in management, design, rehabilitation, and inspection of transportation structures. Mr. Izzo graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.
Throughout his career, Mr. Izzo has served as the Contract Manager for multiple open-end bridge inspection and design contracts for the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration. He served as the Project Manager for the Maryland Transportation Authority’s facility-wide bridge rehabilitation program for the Fort McHenry Tunnel Facility and also led inspections for several signature structures including the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge, the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge and the Fort McHenry Tunnel. He currently leads WBCM’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control Committee and has been involved in WBCM’s Mentoring Program.
Mr. Izzo is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). He is also very active in the American Council of Engineering Companies Maryland (ACEC/MD).
