WBCM is pleased to announce the following recent hires:

Hanif Drzal, PE, joined the firm as Director of Operations in our Reston, Virginia office. In this role, she will lead business development efforts and participate in project management for projects throughout The Commonwealth of Virginia. Ms. Drzal has 20 years of experience in project design, project management, and construction management for both public and private sector entities including new buildings and renovations of existing structures of various market sectors. She earned a Bachelor of Science as well as a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is currently serving as the President of the Center for JOC Excellence and is active in the Society of American Military Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington. Ms. Drzal is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia as well as a Certified Job Order Contracting Professional.

Marcus Gursky, PE, has joined the firm as a Senior Bridge Engineer in our Baltimore office. He possesses more than 17 years of diverse experience in design, rehabilitation, and inspection of transportation structures. He is a certified NBIS Inspection Team Leader and has performed in excess of 600 bridge and culvert inspections and more than 300 load ratings. Mr. Gursky is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and former Vice President of the Structural Engineering Institute of Maryland. Mr. Gursky received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Montana State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

Nicholas Ward, PE, ENV SP, has joined the firm as Bridge Engineer in our Baltimore office. He has more than 12 years of experience in inspection and evaluation of transportation structures. His expertise includes underwater and topside NBIS inspections, preliminary and final design, structural analysis and load capacity ratings. Mr. Ward received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and active in the Engineering Diving Committee for the Association of Diving Contractors International. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware as well as a Surface Supplied Air Diver Supervisor.

Kevin Wilmot, PE, has joined our Pittsburgh office as a Civil Project Manager. Mr. Wilmot has more than 30 years of experience in all facets of civil and municipal engineering, including land development, water, stormwater, and wastewater projects. His expertise includes complex municipal and privately driven construction projects. Mr. Wilmot is a member of the Water Environment Federation, Pennsylvania Water Environmental Federation, American Society of Civil Engineers, Pennsylvania Rural Water Association, and the West Virginia Rural Water Association. Mr. Wilmot received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.

Kevin Shumberger, PE, CBSI, has joined the firm in our Mechanicsburg office as a Project Manager in the Bridge Department. He has 10 years of progressive experience in the design and inspection of various steel, prestressed concrete, and reinforced concrete structures, superstructures, and substructures. His project experience has included preliminary engineering and final design for structure replacement, re-decking, and widening projects for several PennDOT Districts and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He is an active member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, Clearfield Chapter and the Association for Bridge Construction and Design, Susquehanna Chapter. Mr. Shumberger received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.

Daniel Thompson has joined WBCM’s Baltimore office as an Industrial Process Designer in the Marine Industrial Department. Mr. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, including product and system design for the powder coating and automotive adhesive dispensing industries; and for the past decade, plant layout and piping design for the nuclear and fossil power generation and chemical manufacturing industries. He possesses extensive experience with various 2D and 3D CAD applications, including specialized software for the plant layout and piping industry. Mr. Thompson received a Vocational-Technical Certificate in Technical Drafting from the Lorain County Joint Vocational School in Oberlin, Ohio.

Joe McGinley has joined our Baltimore Office as a Landscape Designer in the Site Department. He brings more than 10 years of experience in a wide range of planning and design to WBCM’s landscape architecture team. His expertise includes public parks, environmental assessments, and sustainable design. Mr. McGinley is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from Morgan State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
