The Porch at Siena
WBCM provided structural engineering services for a new single-story, 6,000-square-foot restaurant. The Porch at Siena features indoor and outdoor dining and is situated at the St. Clair shopping development in the South Hills. The structure is comprised of exposed open-web hybrid roof trusses with stained wood top/bottom chords and steel pipe webs. The trusses are supported by long-span laminated veneer and parallel strand lumber beams, steel tube columns, and shallow spread concrete foundations. The tall open entrance vestibule is framed with steel tube moment frames. The interior slab on grade is exposed stained concrete, with special attention given to the contraction joint layout. The outdoor covered patio, accessible by two garage doors, includes a masonry fireplace and is bounded by cantilevered masonry seat walls.
