WBCM provided engineering services for the design and construction of the 113,665-square-foot, six-story Campus Center. Innovative structural design solutions accommodated large open areas without columns in a constrained site with dense existing underground utilities. The structure uses a concrete slab and a composite steel beam system supported by steel columns founded on a mixture of caissons and spread footings.

WBCM also renovated the existing 30-year-old gym in the adjacent Pratt Street garage, resulting in a modern athletic center containing an elevated, roof-supported running track; basketball, volleyball and racquet ball courts; and administrative offices. The project was phased to accommodate the university’s schedule.
