WBCM provided structural engineering services for the construction of a new seven-story, 162,000-square-foot student housing building. The mixed-use ground level was constructed of a cast-in-place concrete plinth that supports the residential levels. It houses a bookstore, food services, mail services, meeting rooms, and other support spaces. The six upper levels contain 135 suite-style residential apartments totaling 394 beds in single, double, triple, and quad units. Options were reviewed for framing systems, including all structural steel and structural steel and light gauge metal bearing.
