Replacement of Morris Avenue Bridge over Mill Creek
WBCM designed the replacement of the existing deteriorated two-span, concrete tee-beam bridge. The replacement bridge is a 76-foot, single-span, prestressed concrete bulb-tee beam bridge. Site impacts to residents and the streambed were minimized by placing integral abutments behind the existing abutments, leaving the lower portion of the abutments in place (to serve as scour protection), and removing the pier to a depth of one foot below the streambed. The new structure geometry maintains the existing horizontal and vertical alignment to minimize impacts. WBCM services included structural, highway, traffic, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control plans, and permitting. The project was performed under a detour.
