WBCM provided engineering design and permitting services for the replacement of Potomac Hollow Road over Moores Run. The existing single-lane bridge was replaced with a two-lane, single-span bridge using an innovative mix of accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques. The reinforced concrete deck is supported by six Hillman composite beams (HCBs) and geosynthetic reinforced soil-integrated bridge system (GRS-IBS) abutments—a first-of-its-kind innovation in Maryland. Funding was supplemented by a grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s Innovative Bridge Research and Design fund.
