WBCM designed 2,100 linear feet of stream restoration in Foster Branch, a tributary to the Gunpowder Falls River. The design was a hybridized approach of regenerative design, natural channel design, and floodplain reconnection. The design utilized hyporheic boxes to establish the riffle baseflow dimension, reconnecting the stream to the abandoned floodplain, restoring approximately 3.5 acres of floodplain wetlands, and restoring the stream channel. The design provides total maximum daily load (TMDL) credits for preventing sediment, hyporheic exchange/baseflow treatment, and floodplain reconnection.
