OUR SAMPLE PROJECTS
Berth 11-12 Upgrades, Dundalk Marine Terminal
WBCM provided complete engineering services for the upgrade of approximately 36 bents of the 1970s wharf at Berths 11 and 12 of the Dundalk Marine Terminal. Six-hundred feet of the existing slabs and deck beams were removed and new pre-stressed concrete piles and pile caps were installed. The updated platform was designed to support a 1,500 PSF live load to accommodate roll-on/roll-off and container vessel loading and unloading operations. Phasing was coordinated with the MPA to minimize operational impacts on the active terminal during construction.

Statewide Transportation Operations Response Map (S.T.O.R.M.)
WBCM utilized the Environmental Services Research Institute’s ArcGIS Online (AGOL) off-the-shelf software, WebApp Builder, and AGS to develop and implement MDOT SHA’s winter season snow plow tracking application. WBCM worked with MDOT SHA’s automated vehicle locator provider to consume and publish its data feed on the MD iMAP’s infrastructure. The data shows moving vehicles and their travel path over the previous thirty minutes.

MD 20/MD 291 Roundabout
WBCM provided engineering services for the design of a single-lane roundabout at the existing three-legged intersection of MD 20 and MD 291. The roundabout consists of an 18-foot circulatory roadway and a 16-inch concrete apron and can accommodate 67 vehicle turning movements. WBCM designed the intersection to minimize right-of-way acquisitions and prepared right-of-way plats to reflect the required easements and acquisitions. The firm also provided storm water management by designing a submerged gravel wetland facility.

Clearfield Roadway Betterment (S.R. 0153-259)
WBCM provided transportation engineering services for the design and construction of 4.5 miles of roadway betterment. Design included the addition of a turning lane and the replacement of two structures. Replacement structures were precast concrete box culverts. Traffic was maintained during construction using daytime flagging operations and temporary traffic signals at the structure replacements. An incident management plan was developed for the project because it was located on the I-80 detour.
